Teresa Barnes is an Associate Professor of History at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. Her research interests lie in the intersections of gender, labour, institutional culture and intellectual history in southern Africa.

Jane Bennett is a Professor at the African Gender Institute with activist and research interests in sexualities, feminist philosophies and gender-based violence.

Zethu Cakata is a Senior Researcher and doctoral intern in the Gender and Development Unit of the Human Sciences Research Council in Pretoria, South Africa.

Aminata Diaw is the Director at Animation Culturelle et Sportive (DIACS) Rectorat
at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal. She is a political philosopher who has worked with DAWN and Codesria, and numerous other institutions of research and development.

Joyce B. Mbongo Endeley is Professor of Women's Studies at the University of Buea in the Cameroon Republic, where she has played a key role in the establishment and leadership of the department. Her research interests include higher education studies, gender and social change.

Mary Hames is the Gender Equity Officer and Director of the Gender Equity Unit at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa.

Amina Mama is the Chair of Gender Studies at the African Gender Institute, currently working for a period at Mills College in California as the Barbara Lee Chair, in a position dedicated to building transnational feminist activism and research.

Sheila Meintjes is Professor of Political Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. She has worked with the Commission for Gender Equality, as Commissioner, in South Africa, and is an activist and researcher interested in issues of militarism, gender, and the state.

Uma Dhupelia Mesthrie is an Associate Professor of History at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. Her research interests lie in the histories of the Indian community in South Africa, and community trajectories during and after the implementation of residential racial segregation in South Africa.

Emebet Mulugeta
is a lecturer at the University of Addis Ababa's Institute for Gender and Women's Studies in Ethiopia, where she teaches on the recently established master’s programme in gender and development. She has a Doctorate in Women's Studies and her research interests include the areas of culture and social policy.

Margaret Nchang Ngaling has a Master's degree in Women's Studies from the University of Buea in the Cameroon Republic, where she is a lecturer.

Awino Okech is a PhD student in the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town, and the co-founder of The Mothertongue Project, a feminist community development theatre project. She is currently living in Nairobi, Kenya.

Vasu Reddy is the Acting Director of the Gender and Development Unit at the Human Sciences Research Council in Pretoria, South Africa. His activist and research interests lie in issues of culture and representation, sexuality, and the politics of identity.

Lesley Shackleton is the founder of HERS-SA and South African Women in Science and Engineering, SA WISE. She is Chair of the HERS-SA Board of Management. She has recently completed a PhD in Gender Studies from the African Gender Institute, focusing on women in higher education.
